Read the story about Mia together, then ask your child to tell you who the story is about, where it happens, and what Mia does first, next, and last. Good answers name Mia as the main character, mention the classroom, cafeteria, and library as settings, and retell the events in order: Mia notices her book is missing, she searches with Mr. Lee, and she finds it in her backpack just in time. Listen for your child using words like "first," "then," and "last" — that shows they understand story order. If your child struggles, reread one section at a time and point to picture clues or key words like "desk," "cafeteria," and "backpack" before asking the question again. You can also act out Mia's search around your home to make the beginning, middle, and end feel real. Keep it light and praise effort, not just correct answers.

Mia's Lost Library Book

Mia could not find her library book. Library day was today! She looked in her desk. It was not there. Mia asked Mr. Lee for help. They walked to the cafeteria. The book was not on her lunch table. Mia felt sad. Then she checked her backpack one more time. The book was at the bottom! Mia smiled big. She ran to the library with Mr. Lee. Mia gave the book to the librarian just in time.
