Offline - with you
Print the pages for offline work together; the answer key is for you.
Read the soccer story together, then play the stand-in game at home: point at family members and things and let your child pick the right stand-in word — dad is he, grandma is she, the dog is it (or he or she!), and the whole family is we. As you reread the story, stop at She, He, It, They, and We and ask, "Who does that word mean?" Your child should point back to the name or thing in the sentence before. If they mix up he and she, keep it light — just ask, "Is Mia a boy or a girl?" and let them fix it themselves. End by having your child tell you one sentence about your family using we.
The Soccer Game
Sam and Ben play soccer at the park. They kick the ball fast. Mia runs to the goal. She blocks the ball with her hands. Sam passes the ball to Ben. He taps it into the net. The ball is new. It is white. Mia lifts the cup. We win! The kids smile all the way home. They love a good game.
